“Operation of a snowmobile on a federated trail is strictly forbidden unless the operator has a prescribed trail permit.” (FCMQ By-Laws, article 11)
Permit prices for the 2025-2026 season
The price of a trail permit includes the cost of the liability insurance, defined as mandatory under article 19 of the Act respecting off-highway vehicles, as well as all applicable taxes.
$425 Annual trail permit (October 1 to October 31, 2025)
$450 Annual trail permit (November 1 to December 15, 2025)
$550 Annual trail permit (purchased after December 15, 2025)
$900 Annual trail permit sold on trails*
$325 Annual trail permit for antique snowmobiles (2006 and older)
$300 - 7 day permit
$240 - 5 day permit
$190 - 3 day permit
$150 - 2 day permit
$90 - 1 day permit
$650 Rental snowmobile permit
$40 Replacement permit
*Purchase your trail permit before using the trails. Please note that a surcharge applies to the annual trail permit when purchased directly on the trail.
Antique, daily, and weekly permits are not available for purchase on trails.
Distribution of the trail permit fees :
For the 2025–2026 annual trail permit purchased after December 15, your contribution is distributed as follows:
$32.77 : Civil liability insurance of $1 million for the snowmobiler
$34.22 : Civil liability insurance of $2 million for the club
$10.50 : Provision fund related to claims with the insurer
$61.54 : Federal and provincial taxes
$410.97 : Amount remitted to the FCMQ, which redistributes it to clubs through its programs
The portion remitted to the FCMQ is then redistributed to the clubs through its various programs and allocated as follows:
$1.00 : Volunteer recognition fund
$2.00 : Promotions and communications fund
$4.00 : Motoneige Québec magazine
$5.00 : Club services fund (liaison officer)
$12.00 : Trail permit sales platform
$16.00 : Federation operating expenses
$370.97 : Fund for the development and optimization of the trail network (purchase and repair of groomers, maintenance of infrastructure, trail grooming, and support for club operations)
