Participation of the FCMQ in the campaign : Respect - For a sustainable cohabitation
Terrebonne, December 7th, 2021 - The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec is proud to participate in the Respect - For a sustainable cohabitation awareness campaign. This anti-vagrancy campaign aims to inform and sensitize snowmobilers to adopt better practices and to understand the impact of their actions when they do not stay on the trails.
Following numerous complaints, the MRC Maria-Chapdelaine formed a consultation table made up of the territory's main stakeholders and activity representatives, including the Sûreté du Québec, the Ministère des Transports (MTQ), the Ministère des forêts de la faune et des parcs (MFFP) the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec (FCMQ), the Quebec federation of ATV clubs (FQCQ), representatives of non-motorized activities, representatives of the wild blueberry industry and municipal and community representatives. From this consultation, an action plan was born, of which this campaign is a part.
"We are very concerned about the consequences of some snowmobilers not respecting private land. It is a privilege to be able to practice snowmobiling on these lands granted to clubs. As the Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec, it is our duty to make our members more aware of the importance of staying on the trails, since this problem causes significant financial losses to our partners and jeopardizes the sustainability of our network." - Réal Camiré, President of the FCMQ.
By participating in the Respect: For a sustainable cohabitation awareness campaign, the FCMQ commits to promote the campaign through various marketing actions. In addition, the FCMQ plans to produce signage bearing the campaign's brand image, which will be installed on several trails in the coming seasons.
The Fédération des clubs de motoneigistes du Québec is a non-profit organization with over forty-six years of service. It is dedicated to the development and promotion of safe snowmobiling throughout Quebec. The FCMQ defends the interests of its 197 member clubs and their 120,000 snowmobiler members, as well as those of all individuals, whether they are snowmobiling beginners, non-initiates or simple tourists. More than 4,500 volunteers devote nearly 800,000 hours each year to the maintenance of the provincial snowmobile trail network.
