What a security officer does

Promoting safety
Make safety a priority on the trail.
Promoting sports
To help promote snowmobiling in Quebec.
Perform the verifications
Conduct the necessary verifications with snowmobilers.
Get involved
Participate in rescue efforts and social and cultural events.
Raise awareness among users
To encourage safe behaviour among snowmobilers.

Fill out the form

Complete the registration form from January 1 through August 1, inclusively. It will be forwarded to your local snowmobile club.

Club approval

The club submits your application and registers you for the training program. It reserves the right to decide whether or not to register a person.

Take the training course

A one-day training session held in the fall (November–December) over a weekend in all regions of Quebec.

Eligibility

Prerequisites

Mandatory requirements
  • Have no criminal convictions related to driving a vehicle (on-road or off-road) in the past 5 years, unless otherwise specified.
  • Be of legal age (18 years or older).
Other conditions
  • Be recommended by your club and/or the federation.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate good conduct and refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages while on patrol.
  • Certify completion of the “trail patrol officer” training course.
  • Own and operate a snowmobile that complies with regulations (Article V-1.2).
  • Be familiar with your club’s territory in order to provide users with accurate information.
  • Have basic mechanical skills.
  • Know first aid procedures.
