Letter to all Canadian Snowmobile Clubs

MADD Canada is pleased to partner with the CCSO for “Zero Tolerance” Awareness Day. The safety of snowmobilers and the public is our greatest concern. In 2004, 65% of all snowmobile fatalities were alcohol related and could have been prevented.

Our Chapters across Canada have been notified that the National Awareness Day is being held January 11, 2009. Wherever possible, they would welcome participating in your awareness campaign. Here are some ideas of how MADD Chapters could help:

  • Supply red ribbons to tie on snowmobiles to pledge not to drink and drive and to honour the victims of impaired driving
  • If available, a volunteer could attend and congratulate drivers on riding safe and sober.
  • Ask their local paper, radio or TV station to do an interview to publicize the event.
  • If available, have their local MADD banner up at the trail.
  • Assist in any other event that is planned.

Posters have been prepared in English and in French and can be emailed to you so you can print them locally. Contact wkristensen@madd.ca.

To locate your local Chapter, visit our website at http://www.madd.ca/english/volunteer/chapters.html or call our National Office at (905) 829-8805 or 1-800-665-6233, ext. 229.

We wish you great success with your Awareness Day and a safe and fun snowmobile season!
